Sterlite honours district toppers


Tuticorin : Sterlite Copper presented its thirteenth Scholastic Excellence Awards at a function held at Alagar Mahal here on Friday. Dr.K.Rajendraretnam, Medical Superintendent, Government Medical College Hospital, Thoothukudi presented the awards to the district toppers of 10th and 12th public examinations.

The first, second and third rank holders were conferred with a shield, certificate and specially designed gold coins. Apart from this, 25 students who secured more than 400 marks in SSLC examination and 5 students who secured more than 1000 marks in higher secondary examination from Sterlite evening study centres were honoured by Mr.Ramesh Nair, Chief Operating Officer, Sterlite Copper. Teachers and schools of the students were also honoured.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr.K.Rajendraretnam said, “I appreciate the efforts taken by Sterlite to motivate underprivileged children to go for higher education.”

Mr.Ramesh Nair, Chief Operating Officer, Sterlite Copper congratulated all the award winners and said that Sterlite was privileged to be part of their success and will continue to support the cause of education.

In the class 12 exam category, A.H.Amanullah (1177 marks) of L.K Higher Secondary School, Kayalpattinam, B.Venkatesh (1176 marks) of Nadar Higher Secondary School, Kovilpatti, S.P.Shobanavalli (1174 marks) of Holy Cross Girls Higher Secondary School and J.Ginipriyadarshini (1174 marks) of Sakthi Vinayakar Hindu Vidyalaya Higher Secondary School received the awards from Dr.K.Rajendraretnam.

For the SSLC exams, V.Bhagyasree (495 marks) of Spic Nagar Higher Secondary School, R.Bhagyavathi (493 marks) of Spic Nagar Higher Secondary School, M.Parthiban (493 marks) of Government Higher Secondary School, Villicheri, M.Merin Vasantha Rupa  (492 marks) of Pope Memorial Higher Secondary School, Sawyerpuram received the honours.

Mr.Suresh Bose, General Manager –Human Resources, Mr.R.Rajasekarapandy, Head, Corporate Social Responsibility, Sterlite, NGOs, teachers and parents of the students were also present.
